The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid (CRTM) resumed its activity within the European Project Involve, to tackle the last stage of this initiative that aims to study and transfer to local authorities new forms of mobility management involving the private sector.
After the identification and analysis of good practices in the field of business cooperation for transport management, the Involve project has reached a final phase in which the regions involved will help partners interested to import these good practices through a Regional Implementation Plan.
On this occasion, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid has met with other partners in Maribor (Slovenia) to determine the process to continue with the pilot projects implemented in five cities to discuss the improvements that these actions involve mobility in industrial areas. Apart from Madrid, are project partners Reggio Emilia, Birmingham, Roermond and Maribor.
The Involve project has a duration of three years and a budget of 1.85 million euros, 78% financed by the European Union. Since October 2012, the partners involved have made study visits which analyzed 46 good practice and there has been exchange of knowledge, thanks to the participation of over 250 experts and mobility sector.
With this latest phase of work, which began in September 2013 and will last until October 2014, the aim is to give a fundamental step to draft Regional Implementation Plans. To get them, studies have focused on the different areas in which the private sector can assist in the planning of mobility.
In this regard, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid has been a clear example of public-private cooperation in the financing of infrastructure and public transport services and the promotion of the transport system. Specifically, in the context of this project, Madrid has been visited by delegations from Birmingham (United Kingdom), Warsaw (Poland), Klaipeda (Lithuania), Maribor (Slovenia), Frankfurt (Germany) and Reggio Emilia (Italy).
