The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid has coordinated the plan of public transport device to be held on Saturday, Day 7, on the occasion of the events taking place in the Plaza de la Independencia and Plaza de Cibeles to follow the designation process of the city hosting the Olympic Games 2020 starting from 16.00.
This event will mean the closing traffic in both squares. The first starting from 7:00 pm and the second closed to traffic on 15:30. This will affect 52 bus lines EMT that will see limited or modified their routes.
To minimize this effect, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid has established important reinforcements in the Metro, arriving on Line 2 of Metro services that offer four times the normal Saturday during those hours expected greater influx of people to acts. Therefore, from three in the afternoon, the aforementioned suburban line will increase their trains until service ends.
Also, line 9-A also will record, predictably, an increase in supply that will double the number of trains that run on a Saturday time slot that provides for greater use for the event. In this case, from nine in the evening until the closing of the Metro network.
Metro Station Banco de España, corresponding to line 2, will be closed from 15:30 hours. The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid recommended to the citizens who come to follow the designation of the 2020 Olympic city that use nearby stations of Atocha and Atocha station (Line 1 of Metro and suburban); Sevilla, Príncipe de Vergara and Retiro (Metro Line 2), Sun (at the crossroads lines 1, 2 and 3 of the Metro and Suburban), Colón (Subway Line 4), Príncipe de Vergara (lines 2 and 9 Metro) and Recoletos (suburban train).
Authority also recommends that users follow all directions on the technical staff that will be part of this device and ask the same any questions they may have.
As EMT lines affected by preparations before the event and its development will be the 1, 2, 5, 9, 10, 14, 15, 19, 20, 27, 28, 34, 37, 45, 46, 51, 52, 53, 74, 146, 150, M2 and the Airport Express line. In addition, all night lines of EMT would relocate their headers and routes. For further information you can access the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid website www.crtm.es.
With this device, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid again demonstrates its ability to establish special mobility plans to events with large numbers of people, which, incidentally, has been very highly valued in the evaluation report of the International Olympic Committee (CIO) of the Madrid 2020 Candidature.
