The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid, as an international leader in the field of public transport management, attended a seminar in Jakarta with the aim of advising the city on the creation of a Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The Madrid institution has shared his experience along with several representatives from transport authorities worldwide and several experts in the field.
During the seminar, organized by the World Bank between 2 and 4 October, have discussed possible solutions that can be offered to Jakarta as the management and coordination of public transport by a single entity. This is a complex and ambitious goal given that metropolitan Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, has over 20 million inhabitants in 3 provinces and 7 municipalities, each with jurisdiction over public and private transport.
The Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid returned to work in an international project to share its 30 years of experience as the sole authority for public transport in the Community of Madrid. Only last month was attended by experts from the agency both at a meeting of the European Centre of Public Enterprises and Public Services (CEEP) and in another of the International Union of Public Transport (UITP).
In the first of these meetings, where Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid participated as a member of the Presidency of the CEEP transport area, discussed the independence of transport authorities regarding the procurement of services. At the meeting of UITP, the Consorcio de Transportes de Madrid intervened as a member of the Transportation Commission and City, which is active and currently leads a working group on certification of new urban development transit-oriented.
