The Community of Madrid now open to young people who have the Travel Pass of the areas B1, B2 and B3 to apply the new Public Transport card with contactless technology. This first renewal period will be free, in principle, to November 30 and can be made through the website www.tarjetatransportepublico.es.

To date, the regional body has already issued over 750,000 Public Transport Cards of Zone A and hopes that this extension to areas B Youth Pass the number to increase by more than 125,000 units.

To the latter group, which from now may apply for renewal of their magnetic Travel Pass for the new card through internet, the Public Transport  Card will be sent by mail once it will be operational in all modes of transport in the corresponding tariff area, for which there's no date given.

Also, to facilitate this renewal and taking into account the geographical distribution of areas B, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid is training technicians in the different city councils so that in a short time the application also can be made through municipal offices, so comfortable and close.

With this campaign, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid aims to streamline the change of the traditional Transport Pass to the new card, since this organism will have to issue more than one million cards of zones B, C and Third Age in the coming months.

Draws and Discounts
To encourage the change of the old Youth Pass holders of zones B to the new Public Transport Card, the Consorcio Regional de Transportes de Madrid has also established a series of draws and advantages in the field of leisure, culture and sport of Madrid.

Thus, applicants for new technology eligible for the draw for tickets for the concert "For them" of Cadena Cien or Mayumana new show "Racconto", plus discounts on museums, theaters, restaurants and amusement parks if they register at Club Friends of the Card.

But by itself, the new medium has characteristics highly valued by its users, including the rapid validation, comfort, its small size, its period of validity of 30 calendar days and the ability to recover the balance in case of loss. Similarly, the overall implementation of this contactless technology will save more than 150,000 kg of paper in the next 5 years and 30% in the costs of operation and maintenance of the winches.
